Proper oral hygiene
Good oral or dental hygiene should be established by adopting four habits:
- Brushing.
- Flossing.
- Oral rinse.
- Regular visits to the dentist.
It is also important to control the intake of certain foods, especially those that are potentially cavity-causing, particularly sugars such as sucrose or glucose, and to avoid unhealthy habits such as smoking.
The most common dental problems and diseases due to poor or inadequate oral or dental hygiene are:
- Excessive bacterial plaque and tartar.
- Caries formation.
- Halitosis.
- Gingivitis and periodontitis.

Professional oral hygiene (prophylaxis)
At our Dent Blau clinic, our dentists and hygienists will perform a professional dental cleaning, covering all required oral areas with special instrumentation to achieve the best results. The goal is to remove as much plaque and tartar as possible from your teeth, along the gum line, and between your teeth.
During your dental cleaning session, your dentist will perform a general checkup of your teeth, gums, and mucous membranes. This checkup helps prevent or detect potential oral diseases or problems early.
Next, the solidified plaque (tartar) is removed using ultrasound devices that reach areas that home brushing can't reach.
After using the ultrasound, your teeth are brushed with a special prophylaxis paste and, if necessary, any stains or discolored areas are treated.
Finally, topical fluoridation is performed, as fluoride remineralizes tooth enamel and increases its resistance to bacteria. This will further protect you from cavities.
In addition, the specialist will teach you the correct technique for brushing your teeth, as well as some tips and habits to follow.
